What is IPL Treatment?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive technology used to treat pigmentation issues, couperose (red veins), acne, fine lines, and for overall skin rejuvenation.

Unlike lasers, IPL emits broad-spectrum light with multiple wavelengths, which can be individually adjusted to address specific skin concerns.

How Does IPL Work?

During treatment, the IPL device emits short, intense pulses of light that are absorbed by targeted skin structures (e.g. melanin or blood vessels). This light energy is converted into heat, selectively destroying unwanted pigment or vessels without damaging the surrounding skin.

Additionally, it stimulates collagen production, leading to visible improvements in skin texture, tone, and clarity.

What is LED Light Therapy (incl. Infrared Light)?

LED Light Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive method that enhances skin health and structure.

Depending on wavelength and light color, different biological processes are targeted. Light is absorbed by skin cells and triggers photobiomodulation, where cellular activity is stimulated by the absorbed energy.

This painless treatment is suitable for all skin types and is often used for acne, redness, inflammation, fine lines, and tired skin – and also works well in combination with microneedling, peels, or lasers.

Targeted Wavelengths & Their Effects

LED lamps emit precisely defined wavelengths, absorbed by structures like porphyrins, hemoglobin, or mitochondria to trigger specific responses:

Blue Light – 415 nm

  • Effect: Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory.

  • Target: Reduces inflammatory acne (kills Cutibacterium acnes).

  • Ideal for: Oily, blemished, acne-prone skin.

Yellow/Orange Light – 585 nm

  • Effect: Vascular-stabilizing, soothing, pigmentation balancing.

  • Target: Reduces redness, couperose, rosacea, mild hyperpigmentation.

  • Ideal for: Sensitive or stressed skin.

Red Light – 660 nm

  • Effect: Boosts collagen & elastin synthesis, cellular regeneration.

  • Target: Skin rejuvenation, fine lines, improved texture.

  • Ideal for: Aging, sagging, or dull skin; post-microneedling or peels.

Infrared Light – 830 nm

  • Effect: Deepest tissue penetration, activates mitochondria, enhances microcirculation & lymph flow.

  • Target: Pain relief, anti-inflammatory effects, wound healing.

  • Ideal for: Scars, post-operative recovery, irritated skin.

Benefits of IPL Therapy

  • More even skin tone & reduced pigmentation.

  • Reduction of redness, couperose & rosacea.

  • Skin rejuvenation with no downtime.

  • Improved skin texture & minimized pores.

  • Acne reduction and post-inflammatory pigmentation.

  • Low discomfort & performed on an outpatient basis.

Common Indications for IPL

  • Pigmentation: sun spots, age spots, melasma.

  • Vascular issues: couperose, rosacea, diffuse redness.

  • Photorejuvenation: fine lines, dull complexion.

  • Acne & blemish-prone skin.

  • Enlarged pores and uneven skin tone.

  • Skin tone & texture enhancement.

Benefits of LED Light Therapy

  • Painless with no downtime.

  • Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

  • Versatile (anti-aging, acne, redness, scars).

  • Excellent post-treatment calming (e.g. after peels, microneedling, lasers).

  • Promotes faster regeneration & healing.

  • Safe year-round, no risk of hyperpigmentation.

Treatment Areas

  • Face, neck & décolleté.

  • Back (for acne).

  • Hands & forearms.

What to Expect After Treatment

  • After IPL: Temporary redness and a warm sensation may occur, typically subsiding within a few hours. Pigmented spots may darken before flaking off.

  • After LED: The skin feels refreshed, calm, and well-circulated. Makeup can usually be applied the next day.Depending on your concern, 3–6 sessions at 2–4 week intervals are recommended. Visible improvements often appear after just a few treatments.
